The day we took these photos we were heading somewhere entirely different. However, on the way to our intended destination, we caught a glimpse of the blue waters of Lake Ontario down a side street, and couldn’t resist turning off and checking the scene out for ourselves. As so often happens in life, it’s the unexpected paths that lead to the best places.
What we found down that road, as a result of that spontaneous turn, was a truly magical landscape. A tree-lined lakeside path, the sun glistening on the calm, still waters, a flock of birds peacefully enjoying the bright- if still brisk- day, and banks of snow that looked like crystalline formations glittering in the afternoon light.
And the whites, charcoals and greys of the scenery happened to perfectly suit my outfit of the day – a coincidence I always love! This sweater from Anthropologie (which happens to be on an amazing sale right now!) is one of my favourite purchases of the season, and I can’t get enough of it. I love a chunky, oversized knit for winter, and adore the detailed weave and texture of the fabric. With a warm, cream coat, ripped skinny jeans, and a pair of booties, it was the ideal look for an impromptu stroll down a lovely lakeside path on a chilly, but cheery, day.
