With a New Year comes a lot of discussion about bettering ourselves and living our best lives, with much of that focus on health and wellness. It can be daunting, but small, sustainable changes done everyday add up to make a big difference over time. And a daily green smoothie is precisely that: a simple step in a healthy direction.
This recipe is a great drink to add to any meal, or have on its own for a refreshing pick me up. If you’re using it as a meal replacement, you can simply add a scoop of your favourite protein powder or nut butter (almond or peanut butter work well). I usually begin every morning with this smoothie. It’s quick to make, has under ten ingredients, and tastes delicious. Plus, it’s a wonderful way to sneak veggies into your diet!
- 1 cup of spinach (seems like a lot, but spinach doesn’t have a strong flavour and disappears into the drink)
- 1 tablespoon of chia seeds
- 1 banana
- 1/2 a carrot
- a handful of strawberries
- 1/3 cup of pineapple
- 1 cup of almond milk
Place all ingredients into a blender. Blend until smooth. And enjoy!
